In the spring of 2023, the first 50 kW sun-powered roaster will be made available to a group of Dominican women producers as part of an incubation of a local processing center.

 
Sunrise Cocoa will finance the transport, the installation of this machine and the training of local producers in this technology, and will extend its support for 2 years, until the community is fully trained.

Once the producers have been gradually given autonomy over the use of the processing center, and provided that their operation is financially stable and profitable, a transfer of ownership will complete the support provided by Sunrise Cacao.

Sunshine Chocolats, our sister company and the chocolate factory at the initiative of this solar and solidarity idea is associated in the effort to deploy this project. It therefore pledges to make these newly formed cocoa micro-companies their sole suppliers in roasted and pre-ground cocoa, and to buy it at the European market price.

 

This model allows Sunshine Chocolats to obtain fair trade cocoa of excellent quality and thus ensure the commercial traction of the whole project.

 

This model can be replicated in all cocoa-producing regions, where communities become the spearhead of a virtuous circle for the local economy, thanks to the transfer of skills and the initial resources provided by Sunrise Cacao.
