It is urgent to stop this environmental disaster.
The obvious imbalance in revenue generated by the chocolate industry, which disadvantages producing countries, creates the urge to expand plots. Producers try desperately to gain in yield. The direct consequence of this practice is that cocoa growing areas are plagued by massive deforestation.
Over 90% of West African forests have thus disappeared, including in protected areas.

An avoidable disaster
Solar thermal technology provides enough heat for roasting, grinding the beans and separating them from the waste remaining after roasting.
Our sun-powered roaster avoids the emission of 30 tons of CO² per year and does not incur additional costs compared to traditional installations.
Our technological solution must be highly ecological both in the test phase and in its real operating conditions, which is why an analysis of the life cycle of the roaster will be put in place once the implementation is complete.

Promoting agroforestry:
The multiplication by 2 or 3 of the gross margin of producers creates more room for them to consider virtuous agroecological practices such as agroforestry and organic production and thus protect their local biodiversity.
